Abstract

The present study aimed to find out the effect of Metformin drug on some of biochemical parameters, including Glucose and lipid profile: Cholesterol, Triglycerides, High density lipoprotein HDL-CH, and low density lipoprotein LDL-C Male albino rats were used in this study.

The results showed that the development of diabetes induced by alloxan led to a significant increase in the levels of glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) compared with the control group. Treatment of animals in the third and fourth groups with metformin at two different concentrations of (500,850) mg led to a significant decrease in glucose and cholesterol levels, compared with the aloxan group, the results were similar to the control group, and the treatment resulted in a significant decrease in triglycerides and low-density lipoproteins (LDL-C) compared with the alloxan group and gave results comparable to the control group (healthy controls).
